SenioriNET social care specialists help launch a virtual robot platform

The project “Tele-Encounters; Beyond the Human” (2020-2023) explores the impact of the internet, robots and artificial intelligence on human relationships as well as the meaningful integration of these technologies into the arts. In the context of migration and loneliness, it also explores the possibility of social robots as companions for the elderly.

SenioriNET representatives participated in the consultations during the workshops with several experts in ethics and robotics, actors to support the approach to outline models of social robots, their code of ethics, personality traits and appearance.

One of the objectives of the meetings was also to explore the possibility of caregiving in transnational families from a roboethical perspective.

Potential social roles for robots were imagined, which would subsequently open up debates on the ethical aspects of their involvement in family life.
