Caritas Iasi Diocesan Centre organized qualification courses for elderly domestic caregivers
In January 2022, 26 members of Berezeni commune, Vaslui county, passed the exam that will provide an European qualification certificate. The caretaker course lasted three months and involved 360 hours of study.
Participants in the training programme acquired knowledge such as:
– Hygiene, administration of medication and nutrition for the elderly.
– First aid for assisted persons.
– Communication skills to ensure good cooperation with the assisted person.
– Mobilization and transport of the assisted person.
– Monitoring the state of health and respecting the rights of the beneficiary.
The course participants understood that in order to practice this profession successfully, a high degree of understanding, patience and solidarity for the assisted elderly and their suffering is required.
