SenioriNET Federation launches the White White Charta on the Rights of the Elderly in Romania!
We just started consultations with the Government and civil society to identify and implement measures in order to support older people.
The event, organised in the perspective of the International Day of Older Persons, was hosted on Thursday 29 September 2022, at the Victoria Palace, for bringing to the attention of policy makers and the general public the need to create conditions that support active and dignified ageing.
“Together with the central and public authorities, we aim to contribute to the improvement of a national strategy based on the right of the elderly to social and medical services, appropriate health care, access to information and leisure opportunities, in relation to the ability of the elderly to access these services.” Doina Crângașu – Project Manager/Executive Director, Caritas Romania
The meeting was attended by more than 40 representatives of public institutions and also other representative of the active ageing issue – researchers, parliamentarians, civil servants from relevant ministries, as well as representatives of non-governmental organisations in Romania.
The Deputy General Secretary of the Government, Adrian Țuțuianu, assured SenioriNET of the support of the General Secretariat of the Government and considered the launch of The White Charta on the Rights of the Elderly to be timely.
